June 12: Tinubu Sitting On Illegitimate Mandate, Owuru insists

Leader and presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party, HDP, High Chief Ambrose Albert Owuru has insisted that his mandate given to him at the 2019 presidential election was usurped and those in charge Nigeria’s electoral process had continued refuse to correct the anomaly by swearing in another president in 2023.

Owuru, a United Kingdom-trained lawyer who spoke as the nation gears up to celebrate the June 12 Democracy Day, assured Nigerians that his fight for justice and sustainable of the nation’s democracy would never be shacked until his mandate was returned.

Owuru in a statement in commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day celebration, signed by his national coordinator, Alhaji Anwal Ibrahim, said, “As we celebrate June 12 anniversary, we want to reassure all Nigerians home and abroad and our numerous supporters that our fight for justice and recovery of our long usurped mandate by the ruling APC party that started with the former President Muhammadu Buhari, being an adjudged acquired constitutional right and mandate is not, and cannot be extinguished by recent contrived gang up under the cover of the recently organized heist passed off as an election to surreptitiously withhold power by all means and swear in another of their kind in abuse of power also usurped since 2019.

“It must be made known that the action of the ruling party of the APC in the hasty inauguration ceremony in the face of unresolved grave constitutional issues and raised questions in dispute before the courts from that election has the potential of great consequences as it represent a covet violation of the extant provisions of Section 1(3) of the 1999 constitution as amended which prohibits that any individual or group of persons or organization to seize power in any part of this country or seek to govern by any means excepts as provided by the constitution.

“It is our case now before the supreme court following the observed Court of Appeal hasty ruling / pronouncement recently without jurisdiction, that the long existing and acquired subsisting rights and mandates of our party and Chief Ambrose Albert Owuru remains the only available legitimate and superior mandate in the land to lead the long suffering people of Nigeria out of poverty and mis-governance with the well thought out programme of welfare state and wealth redistribution for the quick development and growth of this great country.

“It is without doubt that Nigeria presently is in a quagmire, held to ransom by usurpers of the peoples mandate to bleed and steal the nation blind, deepening the woes of the suffering masses and to shields themselves from any probe of their mis-governance and mismanagement of the nation commonwealth over the years.”

He therefore urge Nigerians to keep hope alive while the struggle for a just and democratic society and Nigeria continues.
