Tajudeen Abbas, a legislator from Zaria Federal Constituency, has been elected Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Members of the House chose Abbas on Tuesday using a “openly declare” voting mechanism.
Ahmed Wase and Sani Jaji, two other candidates, were defeated by him; they received three votes apiece.
