The Kebbi State government has signed N2.9bn contract with AMIJAPP Nigeria limited for reconstruction, rehabilitation and modernisation of Birnin Kebbi central motor park.
The Hon. commissioner of works and transport, Engr Abdullahi Umar Faruk disclosed this during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
Faruk said ” the rehabilitation and modernisation of Kebbi State central motor park project is hereby awarded to the lowest bidder AMIJAPP Nigeria limited at the cost of N2,990,351,128.23 billion.
He said excellency Dr. Nasiru Idris has directed that the 25 years old Kebbi State central motor park, which was initiatedin1996 and commissioned in 1998 but allowed to deteriorate due to negligence and lack of maintenance by successive administration in the state.
He explained that Kebbi State central motor park would become a comfortable, functional and aesthetic edifice for a modern public transport through provision of lack-up shops, gallery modern administrative block, adequate water supply, restaurants, garbage and disposal bins, available sit-out for commuters updated and readable electric information board,
among others.
Commissioner further said that the motor park would be convenient centre for both local and international travelers and freight collation that come from all over the country and the neighbouring countries of Niger and Benin republics.
He added that the redesigned, constricted and modernized to be a befitting gateway park to serve it’s role as image maker for the state.
