Labour Party Clears Air On Peter Obi Visit to Atiku.

By Sonnie Nwosu

Putting the record straight for accuracy and clarity, the discussion between Peter Obi, Atiku, Lamido and Saraki was centered on the deplorable condition of the North and not about merging or alignment.

The spokesman for Peter Obi campaign, Yinusa Tanko who appeared on Arise Television programme clearly stated that the visit was to draw the attention of the northern elites and billionaires on the deplorable condition of the citizens and implored them to do something urgently to ameliorate the sufferings of their citizens.

Peter Obi wisely chose Atiku who represents the Northeast, Lamido representing the Northwest and Saraki who represents the Northcentral to articulate his vision for the zones.

The Labour Party presidential candidate spokesman asserted that the motivation of the meeting was anchored on the reality of what Peter Obi and his entourage witnessed first hand during his meet the people tour in that part of the country.

The deplorable living condition of the people inspite of the many wealthy men and powerful politicians who can turn things around is most pathetic and should be addressed to avoid mass agitation someday.

Peter Obi cited agriculture and mining, using Niger State as a case study which has a vast land that can feed Nigeria if harnessed properly for food production and youth employment.

He also added that massive forests like Sambisa and many others, an advantage that has been left untapped over the years should be turned into production enclaves to engage the teeming youths on skills acquisition.

Dr. Tanko reiterated that the meeting was not political and should not be seen as such, Obi having not used his meet the people visits for a political campaign.

He advised them as a true democrat to endeavour to rally their superwealthy northerners to provide basic amenities for their people to reflect the donkey years power has been in the North.

Labour Party strongly believes that a new Nigeria is possible if the right people are not restrained from taking the front seat to pull the country out of the woods, from consumption to production and restore the country’s lost glory.
