Labour Party Innaugurates Directorate, Survives Disintegration

It happened at the Labour Party AMAC townhall meeting held at the Top Rank Hotel, Jabi, Abuja on Saturday 8th June.

The occasion coincided with the Labour Party inauguration of the Directorate of Mobilization and Integration, and the leadership of the party chose to use the same venue for the auspicious ceremony to demonstrate the unity of purpose existing in the party, and some members of the Obidient Movement present to actualize the unification of the two bodies.

In his speech, the chairman of the party, Barr. Julius Abure stated that in view of the controversies and misconceptions which followed the publication of the names and setting up of the Directorate of the Obidient Affairs, the party decided to rename it as the Directorate of Mobilization and Integration with the scope expanded to include other areas.

He asserted that the terns of reference of the directorate include to coordinate the registration of all members of the Obidient family fully into the party’s structure, ease the diaspora participation in the Affairs of the party and work closely with the National Youth leader, National women leader and the National organizing secretary to create programmes that will fully and effectively assimilate willing members of the Obidient family to the party.

He expressed the hope that the communication gap between the Obidient movement due to its nature has been concluded, no doubt will need to be addressed, noting that the party however is not unmindful of the presence of a large spectrum of followership, whereby some members may not even be willing to interface or join the party.

The National Chairman seized the opportunity to appeal to those who directly or indirectly have been encouraging propaganda against the leadership of the party or the party itself and yet want to use the platform for future elections to desist from such despicable actions and join hands with the party in one mind and spirit for victory in future elections.

Meanwhile in his remarks, the Labour Party AMAC chairman, Comrade Ifeanyi Uzochukwu said that the town hall meeting, with the theme, “Political Party Innovation and the need for Youth Inclusivity” dealt on the importance of the theme to them, what is the expected outcome of the event and how to achieve the objectives.

He averred that the AMAC chapter of Labour Party is on ground and flying the flag of the party very high across the area councils in the FCT as the strongest base of the party amongst the area councils.

He told the youths to take cognisance of the giant strides they made in the build up to the 2023 General elections, the elections proper and strategize on what to do and build on their past success with target in the coming months.

He defined innovation as the implementation of a creative idea for the benefit of an organisation which in this case the Labour Party represents and added that creating chapters, an initiative of Hon. Joshua Obika is currently contributing massively in the membership drive across the wards in AMAC.

Comrade Uzochukwu harped on the idea of Mobilization of the youths for active participation in politics through the use of technology which played a vital role and impacted on the youths for full involvement in the last elections as evidenced in the results produced that shocked even the ruling party. He revealed that it will be built upon as the FCT area councils is fast approaching to consolidate in their capability of winning the chairmanship and councillorship positions in AMAC which cannot be achieved without the full involvement of the youths in the process.

He asserted that the use of data as practiced in most nations is vital in the assessment of the needs of the people for intervention in solving their problems.

He appealed for an information centre in AMAC chapter that will be one- stop office to warehouse every information with a desk officer to attend to members.
