…as terrorists kill 100 in Mangu/Bokkos
A House of Representatives member for Mangu/Bokkos federal constituency of Plateau State, Solomon Maren has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order the security agencies to swiftly curb the killings in his constituency and state as a whole.
Maren lamented that suspected terrorists had in the last two days mascared over 100 persons, mostly women and children in cold blood during an overnight unprovoked attack on their houses and burnt food stuffs, crop barns, seedlings among others.
The lawmaker said these killings were amongst many in the constituency, where over 200 persons have been killed in the last four months before the recent attack.
Maren in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday also urged on the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) and other well spirited organisations to provide relief materials for the wounded survivors of the dastard attack.
He condemned the attack in its entirety and called for calm amongst his constituents, pleading they should not take law into their own hands.
“Government may claim to be doing its best but its best is not good enough, since it is not able to stop the killings in years. However, I commend the few gallant officers working without sufficient arms, yet gave themselves to save lives.
“The responsibilities lies in the president to first condemn the dastard act, which we expect him to do so and immediately go ahead to protect lives and properties which is the primary responsibility of the government.
“I commiserate with the government and people of Plateau state, the MISKHAKAM MWAGAVuL, the Governor-Elect of Plateau state and indeed the Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area on the attack and pray for the repose of the souls of those killed,” Maren said.
