#EndSARS: Lagos Judicial Panel Reveals Reason Sitting Was Adjourned

The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the Lekki Toll Gate incident has finally sanctioned the Lekki Concession Company (LCC)’s bid to reopen the toll gate.

The toll gate has been shut since Nigerian soldiers allegedly opened fire on innocent protesters on October 20, 2020.

The company had through its counsel, Demola Seriki, on several occasions since December 2020 appealed to the nine-member panel to allow it take over the plaza for repair and insurance claims.

However, the Justice Doris Okuwobi (rtd)-led panel which previously declined, Saturday gave the greenlight for the company to take over the complex.

It was LCC’s fourth time of applying to take over the toll complex.

Four other members of the panel were present when Justice Okuwobi acceded to LCC’s request.

They are: Segun Awosanya (aka Segalink), Oluwatoyin Odusanya (Director, Citizen’s Right), DIG Taiwo Lakanu (police representative) and Lucas Koyejo (National Human Rights Commission).

Four other members of the panel however disagreed with the decision to accede to LCC’s request to reopen the toll gate.

They are: Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, Patience Udoh (representing civil society), Rinuola Oduola and Temitope Majekodunmi (representing the youths).
