Veteran Nigerian rapper Olusegun Osaniyi, popularly known as Lord of Ajasa, has officially become a citizen of the United States.
The veteran artiste announced the milestone on social media on Wednesday night, sharing a photograph of himself celebrating after completing the citizenship process.
In a video that has gone viral, Lord of Ajasa was seen alongside his wife, holding his citizenship documents and an American flag as he expressed his excitement over becoming a US citizen.
“Thank you America,” the rapper wrote in the caption accompanying his post.
The development attracted congratulatory messages from his long-time associates, colleagues and fans, who celebrated the milestone in the comment section of his Instagram post.
Lord of Ajasa remains one of the pioneers of Yoruba-language rap in Nigeria and played a significant role in popularising the indigenous rap style.
He rose to prominence in the Nigerian music industry during the late 1990s and early 2000s, becoming known for his distinctive fusion of Yoruba lyrics with hip-hop.
