The Chief (Esu) of Maje, a community in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Adams Jatau has drawn the attention of the Minister, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello. to his village, seeking for the provision of some amenities, which if done, according to him would make them feel the impact of the nation’s capital.
Jatau addressed journalists recently in his palace in Maje community.
Among what he requested from the Minister were, construction of a small bridge between them and a neighboring community, Dakibiu community.
This he said would make them associate with them, as they have been doing before bringing the federal capital to Abuja. Adding that the road was blocked by developers, he said that the one in use has been inside dirty swampy water, which he said hasn’t been good for human health.
“Matching on the dirty swampy water isn’t good for human health,” he stated.
Another request he made was fencing of their cemetery. He said that living the cemetery open isn’t good for the people, as a burial ground.
Although he said that developers have since taken over all their farm lands, as such denying them farm land as farmers, but he was quick to appeal to the government to always intervene between them and herders, when there is problem in the areas where they farm in other communities, across the FCT.
He also regretted that after taking over their farm lands, they weren’t compensated, by the developers. This he also asked the government help them realise.
Chief Adams Jatau also appealed to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to come to their aids and repair their transformer, among others to restore light back to the community.
Promising that they are always willing to assist them in their little way as usual, the chief said that some of them have metre, while others don’t.
He said those who don’t have meter pay for electricity bill, whether they have light or not, even as he informed that AEDC has been promising to bring metres to those who don’t have, without fulfilling their promises.
On the presidential primary elections conducted by different political parties recently, he advised those under his domain to demonstrate maturity, by involving God to direct them to the right candidate who will lead the country with the fear of God.
This he said would move the toward and promote unity.
