A suspected case of suicide has been reported in Igbosere area of Lagos of one Pere Faruk, 43, who allegedly took his own life after pouring acid on his girlfriend.
The incident occurred shortly after the victim and his girlfriend had a domestic dispute in Lagos Island.
Security expert, Zagazola Makama who quoted family sources said that the incident occurred on June 30, at No. 8 Messy Street, Lagos Island.
He said Faruk’s younger brother, Pere Jeli, who resides at No. 9 Igbosere Street, was alerted to the incident and promptly raised the alarm.
The woman involved, identified as Kemi Bashiru, was immediately rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for extensive burns.
Shortly after the altercation, Faruk was found dead in his room, with a bottle of Sniper insecticide discovered beside him, indicating a possible suicide.
The deceased remains were transported to the hospital and later deposited in a public mortuary for autopsy. Emergency responders were also at the scene to document the incident.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the full details surrounding the altercation and the events that led to the fatal outcome.
