A young woman was reportedly killed on Monday at Bekay Pharmacy, located at the Total Roundabout in Nsukka, Enugu State, after a confrontation with her boyfriend over alleged infidelity.
The suspect, identified as Emma Nwagwu, allegedly stormed the pharmacy where the victim was receiving treatment and accused her of being involved with a Divisional Police Officer said to be waiting outside in his vehicle.
According to eyewitness accounts shared by influencer Sen. Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, Nwagwu smashed the victim’s head against a wall, killing her on the spot. An angry mob attempted to lynch him before security personnel intervened.
He also reportedly tried to attack the DPO, who drew his service pistol in self-defence as bystanders restrained both men.
Nwagwu was later taken to the Nsukka Police Area Command. The suspect is alleged to be a long-time political operative in Nsukka LGA.
The Enugu State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement.
