The notice of impeachment against Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been withdrawn by the 26 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The notice of withdrawal that was read out on the house floor on Wednesday included this information.
They said that the choice was made out of reverence for President Bola Tinubu, who called a meeting for peace between the opposing parties on Monday.
The verdict was read aloud to the 26 lawmakers who supported former governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday morning at the House of Assembly Complex.
According to the DAILY POST, President Tinubu mediated a peace agreement between Wike and Fubara on Monday.
A power struggle between the governor and Wike, who serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is said to be the cause of the unrest in the state.
