MNJTF gets Royal Seal of Approval for  Peacekeeping Efforts in Lake Chad Basin

In a resounding endorsement, the Chadian Sultan of Kinassaram, Abakar Yerima, has commended the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) for restoring peace and security to Lake Chad communities. The Sultan’s visit to Task Force Kirta in Darak, Cameroon, on June 26, 2024, marked a significant milestone in the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity 2.

With peace and security reigniting in the region, farmers and fishermen have returned to their livelihoods, free from fear of attacks. The Sultan’s gesture of donating sheep to the troops symbolized the community’s gratitude for their tireless efforts. Navy Captain Patrick Nnom Mabiom, commander of Task Force Kirta, acknowledged the local support, reaffirming the troops’ commitment to lasting peace.

“The MNJTF has done an outstanding job in restoring peace to our communities,” said Sultan Abakar Yerima. “We are grateful for their dedication and hard work in the face of challenging conditions.”

Operation Lake Sanity 2 has proven instrumental in rebuilding lives and livelihoods in the Lake Chad area, showcasing the power of collaborative efforts in achieving peace and security. The operation has also facilitated the return of displaced persons, revitalized economic activities, and strengthened community ties.

As the MNJTF continues to work tirelessly to ensure lasting peace, the royal seal of approval serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to the region’s well-being.
