The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM. Emmanuel Sideso Abe I and indigenes of the kingdom on Wednesday embarked on celebration rally for reclaiming their land from the Nigeria Army.
A High Court in Effurun, Delta State, returned the said land to Uvwie Kingdom in a judgement against the Nigeria Army and ordered the land be returned to the original owners from Uvwie Kingdom.
The Monarch who addressed indigenes of Uvwie shortly after their appreciation rally said, “ The joy today is that, the Army have given up the land to us by the judgement.”
He noted that the Army sold parts of the land to corporate bodies and individuals and even to some of his own subjects inspite of the legal tussle which lasted for several years.
He said his subjects who were involved in the purchase of the land will write application to be considered if they’re worth indigenes of the Kingdom.
“I tell you, you write application, we will consider you whether you are worth Uvwie person.”
According to him, “ For you to come here, we are judging a case against the Army, you go behind, what do you call that person? Traitor and the gods of Uvwie will worry those people so that they learn from this type of struggle.
“We are fighting a just cause, your people are being denied, marginalised, they cannot go to their farms. You who supposed to protect them, you are colluding with other people to treat them the way Ike that. I do not support that type of thing.”
The Monarch commended the Hon. Justice Roli-Daibo Harriman who presided over the matter and fined the Army the sum of one million naira and declared null and void the acquisition of parts of Ohore 1 land by the Nigerian Army.
He also prayed for the Minister of Aviation, Chief Festus Keyamo and Chief Victor Otomewo, former Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in Delta State for standing firm in fighting the case out in favour of Uvwie Land.
Earlier, indigenes of Uvwie Kingdom during an appreciation rally for judgement obtained for returning their land to them.
They chanted solidarity songs as they matched through Agric road, down to Effurun roundabout, High Court road before arriving at the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM. Emmanuel Sideso Abe I who addressed them.
They displayed placards with inscriptions such as “Thank you judiciary for returning Uvwie land to the people”, “thank you judiciary, the last hope of common man”, ” justice at last for Uvwie Kingdom as it reclaim its land from Army”,” Thank you Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom 4 standing for justice and peace”, ” Uvwie Kingdom thank judiciary 4 standing for the truth on the illegal occupation of Uvwie land by Army.”
