Monguno applauds NARC over commitment on rehabilitation of repentant insurgents

The National Security Adviser Major General Babagana Munguno retired has commended the commitment of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre for organising a 3-Day Seminar on the rehabilitation of repentant insurgents in the North East.

He made the statement during the closing ceremony of the 3-Day Seminar organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser and Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and Social Development in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Resource Center in Abuja.

General Munguno who was represented by the Coordinator National Counter Terrorism, Office of the National Security Adviser, Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa said the seminar was aimed at promoting collaborative learning at establishing a share purpose and idea for advancing disarmament, demobilisation and reintroducing policies in Nigeria.

He also noted that the seminar will enable participants and delegates to have thorough strategic and operational level understanding of the concepts, approaches and new practice of evolving effective planning, implementation and coordination of disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration.

In his remarks, the Director General Nigerian Army Resource Centre Retired Major General Garba Wahab said the seminar proposed the need for the Federal and State governments to ensure the development and strengthening of the legal and institutional framework for the success of disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration processes in the country.

Highlights of the 3-Day event include paper presentations by erudite scholars, senior military officers and Civil Society Organisations. Others include presentation of certificates and group photographs.
