At least four more South African soldiers have died in clashes with M23 insurgents in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The fresh fatality brings the total number of South African peacekeepers slain to 13 since the fighting intensified last week.
South African troops are said to be in Congo as part of UN and Southern African missions.
According to a Department of Defence statement issued on Monday, M23 rebels fired mortar bombs at Goma airport in eastern Congo, killing three South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel.
According to the Department of Defence, another soldier who was injured in conflict with M23 rebels over the last three days died as a result of his injuries.
The administration had earlier claimed the deaths of nine South African peacekeepers.
The defense department stated on Tuesday that the SANDF was still dedicated to its peacekeeping responsibilities in Congo under the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and MONUSCO missions, which are mandated by the United Nations.
