Most road crashes caused by human actions, choices, exposes research

A recent research carried out by tsboi.ai,
an Ai indexing services provider and Ai training company has shown that most road crashes are caused by human actions and choices. This was contained in a press release from the media department of the Ai company over the week.

To back the outcome of its research, the release went on to say: “The Corps Marshall, Federal Road Services Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed has said that road crashes don’t just happen, but are caused and can be prevented.

According to the release: “This statement prompts deep reflection. It challenges us to go beyond surface-level explanations and examine the root causes of road accidents. It’s not about blindly praising road safety institutions or their strategies, it’s about acknowledging an uncomfortable truth: road accidents are largely the result of human actions and choices.

“This insight draws attention to the human factor as the leading cause of most crashes, from distracted driving and speeding to fatigue and poor judgment. And it’s this very reality that’s pushing developers of AI and autonomous vehicles to explore safer alternatives by removing the fallibility of human drivers altogether.”

The release went on: “Driving is not just a mechanical skill. It’s also a deeply social and psychological act. Mental health, emotional state, stress levels, and interpersonal relationships, all influence how people drive. The way someone interacts with their environment at: home; work, or even in traffic, can impact their focus and behavior on the road. Alcohol is not the only external factor; emotional distress, anxiety, and social disconnection can be just as dangerous behind the wheel.

“Understanding this sociological dimension helps explain why good road safety policy goes beyond law enforcement. It must address human behavior, mental health, and community culture. This is why we applaud the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for taking a more community-centered approach to road safety. The recent strategy of empowering passengers to hold drivers accountable, while encouraging more grassroots participation, is both bold and innovative.”

The release therefore went further to observe that by engaging communities directly and making road safety a shared responsibility, the FRSC is helping to create a culture where everyone has a role in saving lives, not just drivers, but also passengers, transport companies, and local communities.

While commending corps marshal for steering the FRSC into this new level with the strong foundation he inherited, the release however says that commitment to inclusive and proactive safety measures is a promising sign that Nigeria is moving closer to safer roads for all.
