MTN Nigeria Appoints New CEO

Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) Group has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) designate for MTN Nigeria Communications Limited to replace Ferdinand Moolman. Karl Toriola, who formerly served as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the telecom giant subsidiary in Nigeria will now replace Moolman who has served in that position since 2016.

Toriola will be returning to Nigeria from the group where he currently serves as the vice president for West and Central Africa (excluding Nigeria and Ghana).

According to a statement announcing the imminent baton change released by the South African mobile telecommunications company, the appointment will take effect from March 1, 2020, to ensure timely preparedness for an orderly handover.

The statement also disclosed that Moolman has been offered a new role as group chief risk officer in South Africa. Moolman joined MTN in 2002 and has held a number of leading positions one of which is the group chief financial officer in Iraq.
