The operation, carried out by forces from Operation Hadarin Daji, was directed towards a criminal organization connected to infamous terrorist mastermind Yusuf Yellow and his close accomplice Rabe Imani.
The governor of Katsina State’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Kaula, disclosed in a statement that the airstrikes caused the destruction of approximately forty-five motorcycles.
The third successful development in the state, he noted, was the recent air raid by the Nigerian Air Force in the Faskari-Kankara axis, which severely interrupted the bandits’ activities there.
Kaula also reported that three victims were saved as security forces acted quickly to thwart an attempted kidnapping in the state’s Jibia local government region early on Sunday morning.
A reliable police source revealed that the distress call about the kidnapping of several inhabitants in the Kwata area of Jibia local government area was received at 4:15 in the morning, according to a portion of the statement.
“A Supol led an APC patrol crew to the spot without hesitation. When they got there, three women were being held captive by armed bandits. The squad moved quickly to obstruct the kidnappers’ escape route, which resulted in a confrontation. There was a gunfight, which forced the crooks to run.
Fortunately, Maryam Lawal (15), Shafa’atu Abubakar (35), and Ummulkhari Abubakar (23) who had been kidnapped, were all freed. Ismail Usman, a six-month-old infant boy who was among those kidnapped, was also protected by the squad.
“The source says that only 14 rounds of ammunition and 20 smoke canisters were used by the security forces during the operation, demonstrating admirable restraint.”
The statement stressed that the prompt action prevented deaths and made it abundantly evident to offenders that such behavior will not be accepted.
It also demonstrated the NAF’s and local law enforcement’s unwavering dedication to shielding Katsina State’s residents from illegal activity.
