The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Bayelsa Command, has advocated a collaboration between the Agency and the Port Health Service of the Federal Ministry of Health.
This is contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Yenagoa on Saturday, by Mrs Abieyuwa Ikhidero, the Commander NAPTIP, Bayelsa Command.
According to the statement, ” NAPTIP has paid an advocacy visit to Bayelsa Coordinator of Port Health Service. The visit was lead by, the Bayelsa Commander Mrs Abieyuwa Ikhidero, emphasised the critical importance of partnerships in the fight against human trafficking, and explained that collaboration with agencies like Port Health is vital,”
She explained to her host, the dangers of human trafficking and its serious consequences for both individuals and the nation’s image.
In response, Mr Abraham Ogbaudu, the Coordinator of Port Health Service, expressed gratitude for the visit and pledged his office’s support in combating human trafficking in Bayelsa.
The highlights of the visit included the presentation of NAPTIP’s information, educational and communication (IEC) materials, group photographs, and the symbolic issuance of red cards to human traffickers in the state.
