The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed Hon Bahago Yusuf Abubakar Agwai 11, as Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal of Nasarawa State.
The speaker, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, announced this during the House proceedings when the Nominee appeared for screening in Lafia, Tuesday.
Hon. Bahago Yusuf, who hails from Lafia LGA of the State, was screened, cleared and confirmed after the member representing Lafia Central Hon Abdullahi Dahiru Angibi moved a motion to that effect, which was supported by member representing Lafia North Barr. Muhammed Ibrahim Alkali.
The Speaker urged the appointee to live above board, reassuring of the House commitment to work in synergy with the Executive and the Judiciary for unity, peace and progress of the State.
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to write a clean copy of the House resolution in respect to the confirmation of the Grand Khadi, for onward transmission to the State Governor Engr Abdullahi Sule.
Recall that Governor Abdullahi Sule, Monday, forwarded a letter to the State House of Assembly requesting for Confirmation of appointment of Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Nasarawa State.
The Governor’s letter reads: “Pursuant to Section 271 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 ( as amended) and the powers conferred on me as the Governor, to appoint the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal of Nasarawa State.
” I Engr.Abdullahi A. Sule , Governor of Nasarawa State, acting on the recommendation by the National Judicial Council do hereby forward the nomination of Hon Kadi Bahago Yusuf Abubakar Agwai 11 for consideration and confirmation of his appointment as the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal of Nasarawa State. I look forward to your expeditious consideration.”
