All is now set for the conduct of Local Government Councils election in Nasarawa State.
The election is bid to hold tomorrow, in all the 147 electoral Wards across the 13 Local Government Councils of the State.
Governor Abdullahi Sule had some Months ago directed the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) to carry out the exercise, following the expiration in the tenure of the former Councils leadership.
The last time an election was conducted at this level of Government was in 2018, during the administration of Tanko Almakura, now Senator in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Barrister Ayuba Wandai led election empire has since received the blessing of the State Government to expend the Sum of N669 Million as requested by the Organization to conduct this important election.
While Political Parties are currently affecting their last minute preparations, NASIEC on the other hand is working hard to ensure that all essential Materials for the exercise are effectively delivered to the polling Units at the stipulated time.
It was gathered that both the Police Command in the State and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have made proper arrangements to deploy their Personnel to Polling Units and other strategic places in the State during the proposed election.
Governor Abdullahi Sule who during his remarks at the interfaith prayer session to mark the Nation’s 61 independent Anniversary and 25 Years of the State creation, assured that his administration would do its best possible to ensure the peaceful conduct of the Councils election.
He further assured that the election will not be rigged in favour of anybody, adding that whoever wins shall be given the position.
As a step towards encouraging voters to participate massively in the coming election, the State Government has declared tomorrow a work-free day.
According to a Statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammed Ubandoma Aliyu, the Public holiday will enable Civil Servants to go and exercise their franchise.
In the Statement, the State Government assured the people that adequate security has been made to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry, before, during and after the election.
