Nasarawa Students voice out varying challenges in campuses

Students of tertiary institutions in Nasarawa State under the aigis of Nasarawa State Students Association that comprised Nasarawa State University Keffi, Federal University Lafia , Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa,College of Agriculture ,Sciences and Technology Lafia, College of Education Akwanga and Isa Mustapha Agwai polytechnic Lafia have reeled out different challenges that they face which culminate to education set back.

Led by the National body of the association during an interactive session with Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada,senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District on Saturday, the students beared their minds on some of the hiccups they encounter in their campuses.

The Students in the various request for a better welfare of NASSA across tertiary imstitution as reeled out from their chapters president harp extensively on ease of transportation to mitigate current economic hardship unleashed as a result of the subsidy removal.

Simeon Alkali the NASSA president of the Nasarawa State University Keffi,chapter complained and sought for the senator’s intervention for the provision of portable drinking water.

” Distinguished Senator we are facing water problem ,but thank God for the raining season ,but from January to March ,the search for drinking water has always constituted a huge risk on us ,as students go around as late as sometimes 2 am in search for water in order to meet their lectures the following day.

” We are seeking that come 2027 as God may have it and you are elected governor of Nasarawa State,you should consider the welfare of indigenous students especially in the area of scholarship award ,which for the past four years NASSA have not access.
” These and others but for the want of time are the challenges students go through.Distinguished I wish to also bring to your knowledge that NASSA students in the faculty of Agriculture at Lafia are yearning for the construction of a hang out garden ” He requested.

Also , the president of the Federal University Lafia , Paul Agabi revealed that one of the greatest challenge students of Federal University Lafia go through is portable drinking water which he said has become a major setback in learning ,as the students roam about in search of water .

Similarly ,students leaders of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, College of Agriculture Lafia, College of Education Akwanga, and those of the Isa Mustapha Agwai polytechnic Lafia bears their minds on some of the challenges that faced.

Responding, Senator Wadada commended the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu,drive for improvement in advancing the course of education with the introduction of the Students Loans .He also commended the governor of Nasarawa State Engineer Abdullahi Sule for showing concern and how he has encouraged development in the educational sector across all levels.

According to him, it is not he gets to 2027 before taking action on some of the request presented by the various NASSA leaders.Senator Wadada assured the students s that as a leader, a one time student and a social Prefect during his secondary school day,he is abraced with students politics and needs.

” This is why this polo Ranch was established to bring education to my people as we have always used whatever proceeds from the polo tournaments in supporting education through the Wadada Education Foundation” He said.

The senator who is the 2027 governorship hopeful and chairman Senate committee on public account at the red carpet chamber of the Nation, made a donation of Six(6) Sharon buses as each chapter parted away on and the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira,also he donated one Sharon Bus to the council of former NASSA Presidents.
