NERC Has Zero Tolerance for Corruption, Says NERC Chair, Sanusi Garba

The Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC),  Engineer Sanusi Garba has disclosed that the Commission has internal mechanism that guarantees zero tolerance for corruption.

Garba stated this during the inauguration of two additional members to the NERC Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) and sensitization for staff of the commission by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) in Abuja.

The inauguration brought the number of ACTU members into six.

According to the post through the Commission’s verified X handle, The Chairman, in the in the commission’s verified X handle said: “Within NERC itself, we have zero tolerance for corruption.”

“And when I say that it is not only in terms of procurement or handling funds, but also in our relationship with customers who come to forum offices to complain and those who come into NERC to apply for licenses and permits to do business.

“We are guided by the law that established the NERC to be transparent in what we do. We are accountable to the consumers of the product that we regulate which is electricity,” Garba said.

The ACTU is an internally required unit to be set up by ministries, departments and agencies of the government with oversight role by the ICPC to ensure internal probity.
