A infamous camp owned by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imo State, was successfully raided and dismantled by the Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA.
Three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bomb, a motorcycle, seven Baofeng radios, local ornaments, a foreign ATM card, two SIM cards, two voter’s cards, stolen vehicle plate numbers, and a toolbox were found during the raid, which took place on Thursday and Friday.
The operation’s spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, revealed this in a statement released on Sunday.
During the clearance operation, Unuakhalu said, the forces came across the fleeing criminals, some of whom had gunshot wounds, and discovered a few shallow graves.
The South-East residents were reassured by the Force Commander of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to preserving peace in the region.
He said, “Troops came across more planted IEDs intended to impede troop movements and detonated some of them.”
