Nigerian government announces start date of second phase after receiving 30,000 successful applications.

About 30,000 students have successfully applied for the loan program, according to the Nigerian government, just seven days after the portal’s May 24, 2024, opening.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund’s managing director, Akintunde Sawyerr, revealed this information on Thursday in Abuja at a program update.

According to Sawyerr, the approximately 30,000 students who applied successfully are presently having their approvals evaluated.

According to the MD, state higher education institutions will be able to apply for the loan starting on June 25, 2024.

He claims that the program does more for young people than only give them financial aid for school; it also gives them skills that employers can use.

“We are devoted to meeting this pressing need, and the tremendous response shows the critical need for financial assistance among our student population,” he stated.

Remember that the Access to Higher Education Act, 2023, which aims to give financial aid to Nigerian students, was signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.
