Nigerians React To Pete Edochie’s BBC Interview

Nigerians on the social media platform, Twitter, has reacted to Pete Edochie’s claim that feminism was the cause of domestic violence.

Pete Edochie while speaking to BBC Igbo blamed women for cases of domestic violence.

Joey Akan said, “What I find sad is that press will go to Pete Edochie, a legend of our screen. And instead of asking him about film and the wonders of television, they’ll try to extract click bait takes from him. Why is marriage your interview focus, instead of his vast technical knowledge.”

Ayomide Tayo said, “Really, is there no one in this country that can ask Pete Edochie questions about his illustrious career, acting and Nollywood?”

Kainene Uzama said, “The biggest scam was Nollywood making us think there was something inside Pete Edochie’s head.”

Bolanle Olukanni said, “Pete Edochie’s comment is dangerous and very troubling – someone of such immense repute. There is a saying you don’t like the concept of feminism but to say men are beating women because of it. Women aren’t beaten because of what they do. They are beaten because of weak-minded men.”

Chidi Okereke said, “Journalists, please I’m begging you, stop asking Pete Edochie questions about marriage and relationships between men and women. Focus on his incredible wealth of theatrical experience, leave his obsolete thoughts alone.”

Oyin said, “Pete Edochie is expressing his freedom of speech and before you nutcase start to misyarn okoto, he is not just talking but talking from experience.”

Edochie has been top of Twitter trend charts in the past because of his stance on relationships between men and women.
