In order to experience good governance in Nigeria, the Director General (DG), the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies ( NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, has enjoined Nigerians to embrace the values of accountability and transparency .

Charging Nigerians to that effect, Professor Sulaiman said the key concepts of accountability and transparency will make democracy thrive further in the country and aspirations of Nigerians realized .

Urging that the Easter celebration be used to foster unity, inclusivity, dialogue and cooperation across all sectors of the society, the DG said: “We are reminded of the importance of unity and collaboration at this season. As we work towards our common goal of promoting democratic ideals and effective governance, let us harness the spirit of Easter to foster inclusivity, dialogue, and cooperation across all sectors of society.

“In this season of hope and possibility, let us recommit ourselves to the values of accountability, transparency, and service to humanity. Together, let us build a Nigeria where the principles of democracy thrive and the aspirations of our citizens are realized.”

He added that Easter serves as a time of reflection, renewal, and hope being a celebration that reminds us of the power of resilience, faith, and transformation.

“At NILDS, we find resonance between the essence of the event and our mandate of fostering legislative excellence, democratic governance, and sustainable development. Just as the period represents a time of rebirth and renewal, the Institute is committed to continuously revitalizing our efforts towards advancing legislative research, capacity building, and policy advocacy.

“Through our programs and initiatives, we strive to empower lawmakers, policymakers, and stakeholders with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of governance and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he stressed .
