Nigeria’s Presidential Jets: Simon Ekpa Speaks on Possibility of More Asset Seizure

The Prime Minister of Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), Simon Ekpa, has alluded to the possibility that more Nigerian assets may be seized by the United States Government.

Ekpa stated this on his X handle on Friday amid the controversy surrounding the order by a French court, granting a Chinese firm the license to seize three presidential jets belonging to the Nigerian federal government.

Recall that a Chinese company, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited was recently given an order to seize a Dassault Falcon 7X, an Airbus A330-243 and a Boeing 737-7N6/BBJ belonging to the FG of Nigeria.

Zhongshan, the company whose export processing zone management contract was revoked by the Ogun State Government in 2016, had sought the intervention of the French court in his contractual dispute with the state government.

In its ruling, the court ordered the seizure of the three jets belonging to the FG, having been a respondent in the matter.

Reacting, Ekpa said that there are possibilities that the United States may seize more Nigerian assets.

He said, “I personally spoken with U.S. officials regarding the subject of seizing President Tinubu’s assets, and that of corrupt Nigerian officials”.

“If President Bola Tinubu and his government fail to stop asking the Finnish government to extradite him to Nigeria, I will consult with our friends in Washington, DC about having more of Mr. Tinubu’s assets seized, and he will be subject to further international embarrassment.”

Meanwhile, the Chinese firm said it has released one of the three presidential jets to Tinubu on Friday.
