NiMet predicts heavy, moderate rains throughout Nigeria.

Majority of the nation is expected to get moderate to heavy rainfall over the course of the next 24 hours, with severe winds in certain places, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, or NiMet.

The agency said in a statement on Monday that the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as well as the states of Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, Sokoto, Katsina, Bauchi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Plateau, Niger, and Benue are anticipated to be severely impacted.

“Moderate rainfall is expected in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Delta, and Anambra states; continuous rainfall is expected in the coastal states of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, and Cross Rivers.”

According to NiMet, “flash flooding is likely to result from these weather patterns.”

The organization gave Nigerians advice on a number of things, including not wading through floodwaters with strong undercurrents and taking preventative measures to lessen the effects of heavy rains and possible flooding, particularly in places that are vulnerable.
