Three persons have been shot to death immediately after the inauguration of Nkpor Community taskforce at the Civic Centre Eke Nkpor in Idemili North council area of Anambra State.
They were 45-year-old Mr Bongo Muoghalu of Umuoji, Izuchukwu Idemili, aged 32 years and Chidi Oforma aged 31 years both of Nkpor.
It was gathered that the incident happened yesterday, Feb 10th, 2021, when two unknown boys drove a black unregistered Mercedes “V Boot” and opened fire on the crowd shortly after the inauguration of Nkpor Community Taskforce.
Confirming the incident, Police spokesman Haruna Muhammed said the case is under investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and efforts are being intensified to apprehend perpetrators of the heinous act in order to bring them to justice.
He said the bodies of the three victims have been deposited to Crown Hospital Mortuary along Nkpor-Umuoji road while two expended ammunition of 7.62mm were recovered at the scene as exhibits.
Our correspondent gathered that one of the victims, Bongo Moughalu was related to the husband of a female journalist in the state and was preparing for his mother’s burial coming up on 12th March before the unfortunate incident.
As at the time of filing this report, no response from anyone yet with respect to who did the killings and the motives.
