The New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP on Saturday in Abuja voted for the suspension of chairmen of nine states over anti party activities.
The states include Ekiti, Delta, Ogun, Katsina and Kaduna.Othersa Enugu, Rivers and Zamfara states.
At the National Executive Council meeting with of the party, it was resolved that following the “attitudes of those involved in their various states, they will remain on suspension until all matters relating to the reasons for their suspension are dispensed.
Consequently, according to the national chairman of the party, Abba Kawu Ali, the party has also resolved to set up a deciplinary committee where those affected will be tried, and if cleared re absorbed into the party.
However, the chairman of Ogun and Delta states will face outright expulsion from the party.
Also at the NEC meeting, the national working committee was given the nod to create a new financial procedure for the party in order to face the realities of the times.
It was agreed by NEC members to work in synergy in order to face the challenges ahead, as well as work to win in off season elections slated for November this year.
NEC members also passed a vote of confidence on the national working committee led by Abba Kawu Ali, who advised members to eschew violence by always towing the line of peace.
Ali said,the NNPP as first timer in major election in Nigeria preformed well though they witnessed some hiccups which the party hopes to overcome in subsequent outings.
“As a political conscious Nigerians who are determined to rescue the country from political decadence and long years of misrule, I emplore everyone to be creative by devising initiatives and ideas that can drive the party to victory in subsequent elections” he said.
