The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), on Thursday, suspended one of its founding members, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, and the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Major Agbo over alleged abuse of the party’s constitution.
The National Auditor of the party, Dr. Ladipo Johnson disclosed this while addressing a press conference in Abuja, on Thursday.
He said said Aniebonam once wrote letters to the Inspector General of Police with a claim to take over the party he founded.
Johnson asserted that the affected persons acted against Article 39.2(7) of the party’s construction.
“They have been involved in anti-party activities and conduct, which may likely have an adverse effect on the party or bring hatred, contempt, disrespect or ridicule to the party,” he said.
He revealed that the disciplinary committee will formally invite the suspended officials in the interest of fair hearing with an opportunity to appeal the procedure as laid down in the constitution.
Johnson further said that the party will always stand up to those who would like to bring it to disrepute.
He added that some members that were earlier suspended by the party’s National Executive Committee, (NEC) have taken shield in Aniebonam and seemingly pushing him to perform acts that are inimical to the growth of the party and operation of its constitution.
