No rift with SGF—Gov Alia

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has disclosed that those making insinuation of differences between the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen George Akume and himself are deluding themselves even as he described them as saboteurs.

Governor Alia made this clarification on Saturday at the new Benue banquet hall in Makurdi, during a maiden meeting with journalists in the state.

He emphasised that the allegations are unsubstantiated claims with no truth whatsoever in there and enjoined his teaming supporters and general public to discountenance the falsehood.

According to him, since he was appointed to the plum job, he has been making efforts to host him, but other relevant stakeholders in the North Central are willing to make collective contribution for the honour to have done him when he is disposed.

Alia further revealed that these people are mischief makers querying their ulterior motives for making unfounded utterances capable of generating bad blood.

“Senator George Akume is my boss and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central. Nothing of such ever existed, there is no rift between us “.

In another vein, Alia hinted that ongoing audit payroll of staff uncovered 2,500 ghost workers in the primary schools and local governments where these discoveries were uncovered. Explaining that subsequently, the state saved 1.2 billion from these exercises.

He reiterated that he took the decision soon after his inauguration to avoid unnecessary tampering of funds as was the case prior to his assumption.

On the issue of composition of cabinet after sixty days, he insisted that he personally presented a list to members of the State assembly for screening even as they are on recess.

He stated that efforts have reached advance stage to return Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their ancestral homes, assuring that the problem would be resolved.
