Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has entered into collaboration with the Green Innovation Centre for Agriculture and Food Sector Nigeria- Integrated Approach to Climate Change in Rice Production in Nigeria (GIAENG- In Acc EU) with support from the EU and GIZ to improve rice production through the use of smart practices.
This initiative followed the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between the University and the GIAENG-In Acc EU in the Senate Chamber of the University on Tuesday.
The signing of the Letter of Intent will allow the University through the Faculty of Agriculture, to partake in the conduct of participatory climate-smart agricultural research aim at reducing the impact of climate change on rice production and to improve the resilience of smallholder farmers in the rice value chain.
The ceremony was witnessed by some Principal Officers of the University led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Saadatu Hassan Liman, Registrar, Mallam Bala Isyaka Ahmed II, Acting Bursar, Mallam Murtala Abubakar Kana, University Librarian, Dr. Aliyu Abdulkadir alongside members from the Faculty of Agriculture, Lafia Campus.
