The former Nigerian minister of defense Rtd. General T. Y Danjuma during the Nwonyo Fishing Festival charge Nigerians to leave in peace in other to attract foreign tourists and investors in the country.
Danjuma who is also the chairman of the Nwonyo International Fishing Festival held in Ibi local government of Taraba State says Nigeria has become a laughing stock amidst killing, banditry happening in the state.
According to him he asserts that “We most put our own house together to make this festival an international standard. There’s no foreign person that will come to our country if we continue killing and butchering each other. Nigeria is a war front, war front of people against our own people. We most put our house in other. We’re a laughing stock to the whole world. We most makes our roads safe, leave in peace in other to attract foreign investors” he said.
Also speaking the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Abgu Kefas said his administration is trying to revive all dead government agencies, projects and festivals. He also charged residents of Taraba to maintain peaceful existence.
The Nwonyo Fishing Festival which was last celebrated in 2010, has seen the light of the day as many respected dignitaries grace the occasion. Amongst dignitaries are The Adamawa state Governor, Umaru Fintiri, Benue state deputy Governor, members of the National Assembly and many more.
Fintiri in his remarks charge the Jukun to sustain the Nwonyo Fishing Festival that has created global awareness for economic benefits.
