NYCN Chairmen’s Forum appoints new steering committee, urges Tinubu, IGP to tackle insecurity, impersonation, others

The Chairmen’s Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has appointed a new steering committee after its convention in Kaduna State on Sunday.

In a communique obtained by New National Star on Tuesday, read in Kaduna by the Oyo State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade AbduSalam Abdul-Quadir, the Forum made appointments of state chairmen of the council to serve in different capacities.

The Chairmen’s Forum passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the National President, Amb. Sukubo Sara—Igbe Sukubo, saying he is the only elected and recognized President representing the interests of young people in Nigeria.

The Forum tasked President Bola Tinubu to address the security and economic challenges affecting Nigerians, even as it urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, and other security chiefs to apprehend individuals who falsely present themselves as representatives of NYCN for personal gain and fraudulent activities.

The communique read: “The Chairmen’s Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) convened in Kaduna State on Sunday, February 4, 2024, to establish a new Steering Committee. As representatives of the Nigerian youth, the Chairmen’s Forum unanimously agreed on the following appointments:

“Com. AbdulSalam Abdul—Quadri, the State Chairman for Oyo as its new Chairman of Chairmen, Prince Gara Nongha, the Taraba State Chairman as its new Deputy—Chairman of Chairmen for Northern Nigeria, Com. Godwin Emeji, the Ebonyi State Chairman as its new Deputy—Chairman of Chairmen for Southern Nigeria, Com. Nathaniel Bogudu, the Kaduna State Chairman as its new Secretary, Com. Nasir Alli, the Kwara State Chairman as its new Treasurer, Com. Bani Nwisabri, the Rivers State Chairman as its new PRO; and lastly Com. Usman Ogohi, the Kogi State Chairman as its new Welfare Secretary.

“In addition, the Chairmen’s Forum reiterates its vote of confidence in the leadership of the National President, Amb. Sukubo Sara—Igbe Sukubo. They commended him as the only elected and recognized President representing the interests of young people in Nigeria.

“The Chairmen’s Forum, on behalf of the entire youth of Nigeria, expresses solidarity with the one and only Grand Commander of the Nigerian Youth (GCNY) and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

He added: “Furthermore, the Chairmen’s Forum urges the National Executive Council to promptly implement the resolutions that were formulated at its recently concluded emergency meeting of the National Management Committee. These resolutions were agreed upon by various stakeholders across the country.

“The youth leadership of the country remains committed to advocating for the rights of the youths and providing a platform for our young people to voice their concerns and aspirations.

“In light of recent events, the Chairmen’s Forum appeals to the Inspector General of Police and other Security Chiefs to be vigilant and apprehend individuals who falsely present themselves as representatives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria for personal gain and fraudulent activities.
