Offset has reflected on his seven-year marriage to rapper Cardi B, admitting he made several mistakes that contributed to their split.
Speaking on Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, the Migos rapper said, “I was definitely not perfect in the situation. I made a lot of mistakes. There’s a lot of things I did wrong. She did things that were wrong.”
Addressing their ongoing divorce, Offset said having their private issues play out publicly made things even harder. When asked if he would’ve done anything differently, he confessed, “I should’ve respected her way more. I made bad decisions as a man, like stepping out.”
He added that when Cardi decided to leave, he had to “take it on the chin,” acknowledging that he had been selfish.
The rapper also spoke about focusing on their children Kulture, 7, Wave, 4, and Blossom, 13 months saying they still have “kids to live for.”
Offset also criticised social media narratives surrounding their breakup, saying, “The narrative be nasty sometimes on me, and it don’t be that.”
Meanwhile, Cardi B, who is now expecting her fourth child, her first with NFL player Stefon Diggs, revealed in a separate interview that she had emotionally detached from the marriage long before it officially ended.
“I felt the love dying,” she told Jay Shetty on his On Purpose podcast. “I was very lonely because I chose to be lonely. It took months for my heart to say, ‘You’re done.’”
