… As Minister consoles affected families

The Federal Ministry of Steel Development has pledged to conduct a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the underlying cause of an industrial accident that occurred within Ogijo community in Ogun State.
These proactive measures came a few days after the State Government indefinitely shut down a steel manufacturing company, Quantum Steels Nigeria Limited, located at KM 16, Ikorodu-Sagamu Road, Ogijo, following an accident that killed two factory workers and injured many others.
The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, in a press release issued on Wednesday, commiserated with the families of those affected, assuring that the Ministry is actively implementing effective strategies to ensure the sensitization of the steel industry in Nigeria.
“Our attention has been drawn to the recent unfortunate incidence of an Industrial Accident that happened in a Steel Plant within Ogijo Area of Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State on Sunday 2nd March, 2025.
“The Ministry of Steel Development wishes to commiserate with the Families of the affected persons who may have either lost loved ones or suffered injuries from that accident and particularly Sagamu Local Government and Ogun State Government at this difficult time.
“The Ministry is currently putting in place effective modalities to ensure sanitization of the steel industry in Nigeria and shall immediately conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the incident and take necessary steps to ensure that this unfortunate incident does not re-occur”, the Minister said.
Prince Audu solicited for the cooperation of all ttakeholders to join hands in mitigating any further unfortunate industrial accidents in the steel industry.
He assured of the ministry’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for the development of the steel industry in Nigeria and to catalyze the industrial development of the nation
