Ohanaeze youths to Tinubu– Ignore Soludo, honour pact with Nnamdi Kanu family

For saying that the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu might not put an end to insecurity in the South-East, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has come under fire from the youth arm of the largest Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide.

The group also called on President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, to pressure the top citizen to keep the promise he purportedly made to Nnamdi Kanu’s family.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide National President Mazi Okwu Nnabuike told reporters in a statement released Thursday that people like Soludo should be disregarded.

Soludo had while speaking to reporters late last year, declared that: “Even if Nnamdi Kanu is released today, I’m not sure they would listen to him because what they now pursue is wealth, not liberation.

The people they purport to defend are now their foes. When they murder and abduct their own citizens, for whom are they fighting?

Kanu’s brother, Kanunta, stated that the family made a deal with President Bola Tinubu regarding the Biafra agitator’s release.

He revealed that the president was aware of the agreement he had made with Tinubu’s son, Seyi, in the run-up to the 2023 presidential election.

Now, Okwu has ordered the President to uphold the aforementioned arrangement, which he claims will result in long-lasting peace in the Southeast.

We find it odd that any Igbo man, much less a sitting governor, would undermine the urgent call for Mazi’s release,” he said.

“Governor Soludo has for long demonstrated lack of capacity to curb insecurity in Anambra State, and finds easy blame on anyone else except himself.

“This is why he found it so convenient to play down the role Nnamdi Kanu’s release will play towards stabilizing the South-East.”

However, the president of the Ohanaeze youths emphasized that “it is no doubt a tonic to the endless tension in Igbo land” and encouraged the government of President Bola Tinubu to uphold the claimed agreement made with Nnamdi Kanu’s family.

We are aware that Mr. President is a man of integrity; he must not be duped by people like Soludo.

“He need to order Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release as a tremendous favor to the Ndigbo people. This will no likely de-escalate tension in the South-East region,” Okwu further stated.
