People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Onu-Imo Local Government Area of Imo State Chief Sam Okonta has lambasted former Governor of Imo State Chief Ikedi Ohakim for defecting to All Progressive Congress (APC).
Speaking with journalists in Owerri, Imo State recently, he said that Chief Ohakim defected to APC was for fear of being probe by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over his alleged misappropriation of N96 billion during his tenure as Governor of Imo State.
He said that he built the Five Star Hotel in South Africa (the City Lodge) which was one of the top hotels that hosted the 2010 World Cup Final in South Africa.
Okonta said that Chief Ikedi Ohakim has no political Ideology, he has been jumping from PPA, to PDP, APGA, and finally, he has somersaulted to APC again, praising Mohammadu Buhari as the best president in the Country where the southeast has received tremendous political dividend.
Recently, the former Governor of Imo State Chief Ikedi Ohakim has said that his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) was a constitutional political exercise.
Speaking at his Country Home, Okohia in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, he disclosed that Democrats must be dynamic in every Political Activities not minding the challenges.
He disclosed that APC is running a policy that attracted his personality and by extension, South-East Geopolitical zone has benefited tremendously from President Mohammadu Buhari’s Administration.
Ohakim described as a misconception that APC belongs to the Northern part of the country, stressing that it is a National Party with superlative ideology and wildly spread more than any other party in Africa.
He further highlighted that Governor Hope Uzodimma has improved on the Security Network of Imo State, adjudged the best across the country, adding that at the inception of his Administration he recruited over l0,000 able-bodied men from 605 Autonomous Communities and sent them to Oji River in Enugu State where they received full police training which he described as a feat and landslide achievement.
