A total of 227 Graduants/ Beneficiaries on Confectioners, makeover/Gele Tying and Events Management has been presented with starter packs of their various qualified professions.
Presenting the starter packs at Event center Asaba, the state capital, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, said monitoring and evaluation programme will be in place to monitor beneficaries of the Women Empowerment skills Acquistion Program of the women Affairs Ministry (WESAP) in Delta State.
The Governor who was represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, RT. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, urged beneficiaries to avoid selling their starter pack kits.
He said, many will be given the opportunity to recieve the state credit facilities if they do well in their various field of endeavours .
He commended the ministry of women Affairs for doing a great job and displaying transparency in the skills Acquistion Programme.
In the same vein the Commissioner of Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social development, Mrs Flora Alata in her address, stressed that the Okowa government is committed to wealth creation and building the state economy through Women Empowerment programme.
She emphasized that the program scheduled to continue in 2022 will be better than 2021.
while charging the beneficiaries to put their starter kits to judious use and ensure that in the next six months they will become employers of labours.
Similarly, the permanent Secretary of Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and social Development , Hon Mrs Aga’s, disclosed that the empowerment of women play diverse rules in the overall wellbeing of the society beginning from the home front.
She said, “it is a fact that when you empower a woman you empower a nation” along sides building a stronger Delta.
She stressed that this present administration led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has placed very high premium on the empowerment of women in the state adding that it is a celebration of empowering women at the grassroots level.
She however appealed to the beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with all sincerity of purpose.
“You must not make the labour of this state government to give you a good life be in vain” she stressed.
Some of the beneficiaries interviewed express appreciation to the governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Commissioner for Women Affairs for making their dreams come to reality.
