
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC and frontline Senatorial contender for Benue South, in the just concluded 2023 General Elections, Engr Austin Oleho has hailed the appointments of former Benue State Governor, Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF and the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff to the President.
Oleho who welcomed the appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the duo as well-grounded administrators whose experiences when brought to bare would positively impact governance in the new administration.
He noted that Senator Akume is a consummate administrator with vast experience, who rose through the ranks of civil service to pinnacle as Permanent Secretary. Akume’s pro-democracy stand was demonstrated while serving as Benue state governor, and chairman of the 19 Northern Governors and was instrumental to the abortion of the third term agenda of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The APC chieftain described Akume as an astute politician and one of the most formidable political leaders from the North Central geopolitical zones of the country.
Relatedly Engr Oleho has averred that Gbajabiamila who is bringing to the table two decades of parliamentary experience during which he occupied the positions of Minority Whip, Minority Leader, Majority/House Leader and ultimately the Speaker, would surely provide the needed support to President Tinubu in his bid to reposition Nigeria for greatness. He noted further that Gbajabiamila’s appointment is a great choice made by Mr President.
He assured the duo of all the needed support to the Tinubu-led government which he commended for hitting the ground running in a positive direction.
