…. PDP will shock Ganduje, APC — Makinde
……Your umbrella has torn into shreds we now have your chieftains — Aiyedatiwa replies
FROM HENRY ADEDAYO, ADO EKITI
The November 16 governorshiip election in Ondo state has pitched the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his Oyo state counterpart, Seyi Makinde against each other
While Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has stated on Thursday that the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, will be shocked by the outcome of the November 16 election, the APC candidate, Aiyedatiwa wasted no time to tell the Oyo governor that his PDP chieftains in the state have abandoned the umbrella and willfully embraced the APC broom
Makinde said the ruling party will experience defeats in subsequent elections in the Southwest geopolitical zone.
The Oyo state governor, who is the leader of the PDP in the South West, said the party will defeat the ruling party in subsequent elections in the zone, stressing that APC had become the nemesis of Nigerians.
Makinde, who responding to remarks by the national chairman of APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, who had boasted that the South West states would soon be captured by APC after winning the Ondo election.
Leading the campaign train of PDP to the Akoko, the Oyo state governor boasted that PDP is still vibrant in Ondo State.
He noted that PDP is determined to be victorious in the governorship election. He stressed that both Ganduje and Aiyedatiwa would be shocked by the outcome of the forthcoming governorship poll.
“If wishes were horses, everybody would be riding them. I can tell you that the people of the South West of Nigeria are wiser, especially in Ondo State, where we are here (Akoko area).
“You can see the crowd; look at the enthusiasm. On November 16th, they will tell him (Ganduje) that Ondo State and indeed Southwest are for the PDP. Well, talk, they say is cheap. You can say whatever you like with your mouth.
“The people of Ondo State will speak loud and clear on the 16th of November 2024, and then all of us in this country will hear it loud and clear.”
But Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa replied the Oyo governor that the PDP was dead in the state, adding that chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are now with the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Aiyedatiwa asserted that PDP’s umbrella has been torn into shreds, hence people of the state should chase away the party with their votes.
“I want you to use our vote to chase away other political parties. As you know, all the gladiators in the PDP are now with us.
“We have torn the umbrella of the main opposition party into shreds. In this coming election, your vote must be for the APC,” he said.
Earlier at Igbobini, Aiyedatiwa, who met a mammoth crowd of supporters, had appreciated them for their support and steadfastness.
He stated that their loyalty has made the ruling party wax stronger in the state.
