The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Lola Amuda has disclosed that her ministry is ready to work with the Board for Adult, Technical and Vocational Education in tandem with government policies towards repositioning technical education in the state.
She stated this while monitoring the ongoing 2021 NABTEB examination at Government Technical College, Odode-Idanre. She also commended the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for paying the examination fee for the students.
While also commending the teachers and students for the peaceful conduct of the examination, the Permanent Secretary called for synergy among various stakeholders in the education sector to reposition Government Technical Colleges and encourage vocational education across the state.
She noted that emphasis must be placed on technical and vocational education to equip our youths with different vocational skills that could make them self-reliant and employers of labour.
Mrs Amuda promised to liaise with her counterpart in the Board for Adult, Technical and Vocational Education to ensure that enrollment into Technical Colleges across the state improves substantially.
She noted that with the dearth of white-collar jobs across the country, only technical and vocational education could come to the rescue, and commended the government of Arakunrin Akeredolu for paying attention to Government Technical Colleges across the state.
