A yet to be identified person was feared dead and many others injured on Tuesday during a clash between the police and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria popularly known as Shiites.
The incident took place at the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory near the National Human Rights Commission.
During the protest, the police were said to have fired shots and teargas canisters to disperse the Shiites and in the process, one of them was hit by a bullet.
Smokes of the canisters billowed the air while the sounds of gunshots rented the air.
FCT Police spokesperson, Yusuf Mariam was not available for comments at the time of filing this report.
