Nasarawa State Ministry of Health has sealed off a privately owned School of Health, Science and Technology in Doma, headquarter of Doma Local Government Council.
The institution, Frame College of Health, Science and Technology was closed for not meeting with operational guidelines and Standard.
The Ministry took the decision to enforced the closure of the College when Dr. Alhassan Adamu led team from the Ministry visited the institution, in continuation of its inspection of Health centres and related institutions in the State.
The team leader who expressed displeasure with the environment, facilities and level of Staff in the institution, said the Management of the College has not lived up to the guidelines stipulated for the running of such institutions.
Alhassan who stated that the institution will remain closed pending when Management of the College is ready to upgrade its facilities, engage competent Staff as well as other necessities for the operation of a School of Health, Science and Technology, said the government will not allow people who does not have the capacity to run such Colleges to vent into it.
According to him “health School is not a nursery school that someone will just wake up a day and then go into operation, it requires that you have the facilities before you go into it so that the real knowledge would be transferred to the Students”.
He said his team will continue to focus its searchlight on private health centres across the State and anyone found wanting would be sanctioned.
Reacting to the closure of the institution, Provost of the college Dr. Ismailia Zakaria, said the institution was established to contribute to the education need of the people of the area, adding that Management will do its best to overcome the current situation, to enable the institution reopened.
