Unconfirmed reports circulating Enugu has it that Oruku community has been on fire since the evening of yesterday with many persons reportedly killed.
Many houses were torched including the palace of HRH Igwe Nomeh of Aguikpa community, also in Oruku, among others.
Up until the moment of filing this report no intervention by the security agencies has reached the troubled community even as unconfirmed reports have that they were alerted, however, the state Commissioner of Police is reported to be headed to Oruku presently.
This is against the backdrop of Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s empanelling and the inauguration of a judicial commission of inquiry into the crisis in the Enugu East Local Government Area rural community whose long-drawn duel with a sister community, Umuode, was recently resolved by Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in an epic peace deal.
Curiously, Oruku is now at war with herself in a full-blown war of attrition that has claimed so many lives and made the area restive.
A couple of weeks ago, unknown gunmen, apparently from the opposing side murdered the traditional ruler of the area, HRH Igwe Emmanuel Chidiebere Mbah.
Meanwhile, the judicial commission in session, which has called for memoranda from the public, has until month end to wrap up its sitting and submit its, reports and recommendations to Gov Ugwuanyi from which he will premise his decisions.
