Osun NUT Chairman commends teachers for conducting credible and acceptable local government branch elections

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Osun State Wing, Comrade Adekomi Kabir Adekunle has commended teachers in the state for conducting free, fair, credible and acceptable local government branch elections.

Comrade Adekunle made this known during his monitoring visit to some branches when the election exercise was going on.

The Osun NUT Chairman who commended the contestants for maintaining a level play ground before, during and after 2021 NUT Local Government Area Branch Elections’ described the Returning Officers as a wonderful and dedicated officers who has demonstrated openness and accountability during the two days exercise.

According to Comrade Adekunle, “I have gone round all the branches during the election period and my observation is that, there was total peace, no rancour and it was crisis free election and that is why am commending both the contestants and entire teachers for demonstrating decorum and maturity.

“While congratulating in advance whoever that is emerge as new branch officers, I want to pledge the state wing’s support and readiness to work cooperatively and constructively with them in order to bring the entire NUT to the greater height”.

The Osun NUT Chairman however reiterated his efforts to give topmost priority to the training and retraining of teachers in the state while appreciating Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the state for being friendly with the teachers.

Comrade Adekunle said, the welfare so enjoyed under Governor Oyetola’s regime cannot be over emphasised while appealing to him not to relent in pursuing the betterment of the entire teachers, adding that, ” teachers deserves good and adequate treatment from government”.

The Chairman also appreciated the unflinching support of the state Commissioner of Education, Hon Olayinka Oladoyin Folorunso and the Special Adviser to the governor on Education, Hon Jamiu Babatunde Olawumi saying they are always demonstrating unalloyed support and corporation to the teachers in the state.

“I also want to appreciate the Deputy Secretary General (DSG) of our union, Comrade (Rev) M.M Braimoh, the EDOLOOKE Group Secretary, Comrade Gbenga Ajibade and its Chairman, Comrade Victor Oladele Amoko for their complete support and contributions to the success of the branch elections in the state.

“Similarly, I want to appreciate all the secretariat staff under the leadership of the state Secretary, Comrade Salami B. Olukayode for their unrelenting efforts displayed towards ensuring smooth conduct of the just concluded branch elections” Comrade Adekunle concluded.
