From Salisu Zakari Maradun, Gusau
A staunch opposition member in Zamfara, Alhaji Abubakar Dan Garba has raised the alarm that about 70% of the people handling the affairs of the Zamfara government are non-indigenes who have been given the opportunity by the present PDP-led government of the state to serve in various capacity leaving the legitimate indigenes at the receiving end.
Alhaji Abubakar Dan Garba, an APC stalwart observed in an exclusive interview with New National Star in Gusau over the weekend.
He explained that he and few others who have the state at heart have for long been observing what has been going on as the administration of the state is concerned, and what they have been made to understand was very disheartening and unfortunate.
According to him since the day PDP took over the mantle of leadership of the state, things completely changed, as people from different parts of the country began an influx into the city of Gusau claiming to have one affair or relationship with Governor Dauda, many of whom, he promised to give one position or another should he became the governor.
Dan Garba also disclosed that he was not surprised by what transpires in the state as far as governance is concerned and the person who governs. Said he,” This was what we have been telling the entire populace, particularly the eligible electorate that they should be very careful during the election and vote for someone who has both them and the state at heart, a person whose everything, including friends and relations are all based within the vicinity of the state and not for anything, but for fear of this kind of mess we witness today. We recently started to describe the government as that of family and friends, but some people thought it was a joke or politics and now the same people of the same party (PDP), are crying over what they see at various offices and other places where under normal condition, nobody should go there apart from them, “he revealed.
Alh. Garba, to buttress his argument also cited an example of some areas that where currently manned by those from other states such as the Hisbah Commission, and the revenue board to mention but a few. “You take Hisbah, for example, is run by a Kogi man and revenue board, although some of those in government are trying to cover it, the woman there according to what we have found is from Katsina and there are many of them who are waiting for their appointments from the PDP led government.
He further explained that there is a great danger ahead if the present governor is allowed to continue the way he started to run the affairs of the state because very soon, according to him, the state is going to be overtaken by non-indigenes, a system that is not obtainable in other states. He added.
